Replacement Flooring Project
In August 2025, our natural wooden floors were replaced to a more hard-wearing alternative. Find out more about the work and grants awarded to Barham Village Hall to fund the project.

About the project
After decades of hard work and wear, our beautiful natural wooden floors in the Main Hall and Grabham Room were replaced in August 2025.
We speak frequently with hirers at classes, events, and during social mornings, and it was during these conversations that concerns about the splintering flooring were raised. Following a minor injury, we recognised the necessity to replace the flooring to keep the hall safe and welcoming.
During the work, we added insulation to improve energy efficiency, and the stage has undergone essential maintenance work, ensuring it remains a usable asset for hall hirers for years to come,
We are delighted that our community have been able to make use of the old wood from the hall, helping to minimise wastage and keeping our history in the village.
A huge thank you to our funders
Thanks to the generosity from the National Lottery Community Fund, and the Bernard Sunley Foundation, we were able to complete this project using minimal charity reserves.
The Bernard Sunley Foundation awarded us £5,000, and the National Lottery Community Fund, £18,700. We are delighted to have their support, which speaks volumes to the importance of our community space for everyone in the area.
